Fly into Mfuwe Airport, where we’ll be waiting to transfer you straight to Lagoon Camp. Settle into your chalet, get your bearings over lunch, and ease into camp life — the first activity is whenever you’re ready, even if that’s just watching the lagoon from your veranda.
Start with a morning walking safari on our private peninsula, tracking the same ground elephants use to move safely in and out of the national park. In the afternoon, head out on a game drive as the light turns golden and the valley starts to come alive again.
Spend the morning at Lagoon Camp with one last activity — perhaps a village or textile tour, for a change of pace from the bush — before we transfer you out to Island Bush Camp in the afternoon. Arrive in time to settle in before dinner, a long way from anywhere.
This is what remote actually feels like. A morning game drive through some of the least-visited ground in the valley, then a night drive after dark, spotlight in hand, for the animals that only come out once the sun’s gone.
One last activity before breakfast — a walking safari is the quiet way to end it — then we transfer you back to Mfuwe Airport in time for your onward flight.

The Luangwa Valley is shaped by its lagoons — old curves of the river, cut off over time, that hold water long after the rest of the bush has dried out. Elephants come down to drink most mornings and again in the late afternoon. Giraffe, puku, and warthog drift through in between. It’s the kind of view that has a way of keeping you in your chair longer than you meant to stay.
It’s still ours, still on the same 296 hectares, but it’s a quieter corner, built for guests who want a little more distance and a little more comfort without leaving the wildlife behind.
Some nights, a roof just gets in the way. The Sleepout is a raised platform on stilts, open to the sky, with nothing between you and the Milky Waay but a mosquito net. No walls. No ceiling. Just the sounds of the valley doing what it does after dark — hippos grumbling down at the water, the odd hyena whooping somewhere off in the dark, and more stars than you knew were up there.
It’s not roughing it, though. Below the platform is a private bathroom and an eating area, so you climb the ladder to sleep and everything else is sorted for you at ground level. Dinner first, then up you go.
