Set beneath towering mahoganies on the Luangwa River’s edge, Island Bush Camp offers an entry point to some of the wildest parts of South Luangwa National Park. Far from the crowds, this camp offers a truly immersive wilderness experience.
On your way to Island Bush Camp, you’ll thread through ancient woodlands, green riverbanks, and rural villages with mango groves lining the road. At camp, sweeping views of the distant Chindeni Hills to the east and the Muchinga escarpment to the west frame an iconic landscape that will stay with you for years.
This is where the magical art of camp cooking happens: turning a variety of ingredients into delicious plates with a wood-burning stove and minimal equipment.
One of our visitors’ favorite moments at Island Bush Camp is a tour of this bush kitchen with our chef, which we call the “kitchen safari.”

We’re proud to continue our partnership with WECSZ, Zambia’s longest-standing conservation NGO.
A portion of every night you spend at Wildlife Camp goes directly to WECSZ, helping to engage local communities in environmental and conservation work.
This support takes many forms. Through the Chongololo and Chipembele Conservation Clubs (CCCCZ), along with their associated radio channels, conservation education reaches communities across the region. In collaboration with WWF Zambia, we’ve helped establish four community-led forest management groups in the upper Luangwa catchment, protecting over 3,500 hectares of forest. Our own private peninsula, spanning 296 hectares, is safeguarded by our activities and fisheries team, while our guide training programme offers hands-on internships for the next generation of safari guides. On property, dedicated wildlife conservation buildings further support this ongoing work.
Children are welcome at every age, and stay for less when sharing with an adult — free under 2, half price from 3 to 11, and a quarter off from 12 to 17.
Book five nights or more and get 15% off — because the best part of the valley is the part you don’t rush.
